After a ‘brief stay’ in rural France due to unforseen engine issues, Gloster Gladiator II (G-GLAD) finally returned to Hangar 2 courtesy of Welch’s Specialist Movements Ltd who undertook the road journey back to the UK. The story of the recovery operation is recounted in the pictures below which show the complete de-rigging and dismantling process.
Many thanks to Julie at Welch’s Transport who organised the various permits, to driver John for loading and securing her so considerately, to Steve at Flying Restorations Ltd who provided the specialist equipment and ‘know how’ to safely dismantle Gladys’.
With special thanks to everyone at Centre Aeronatique de Beynes…
Surtout pour nos amis du Centre Aeronautique de Beynes; Nous aimerions vous remercier pour votre aide et votre hospitalité lors de notre séjour avec vous.
